Lee Pace has covered Tar Heel athletics to some degree or another since he entered Carolina as a freshman in the fall of 1975. He was sports editor of The Daily Tar Heel prior to his graduation in 1979 and then a staff sports writer for the Asheville Citizen-Times and Durham Morning Herald. He has been a free-lance writer and editor since 1987 and conceived his Extra Points newsletter in 1990 to provide a unique slant on Tar Heel football. He has written for dozens of national and regional golf publications and has written five books about golf in the Pinehurst area.
