Jan. 18, 2008

BALTIMORE - North Carolina midfielder Scott Campbell was chosen in the fourth round by the Colorado Rapids in the 2008 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, held Friday at the Baltimore Convention Center. With Campbell's 49th overall selection, the Tar Heels have now had 12 players picked in the last six drafts.

Campbell, who turned to professional soccer after his junior season, was a three-year standout in the midfield for UNC. The Plantation, Fla., native started 53 of his 61 games at Carolina and tallied 43 points on 15 goals and nine assists from 2005-07.

Campbell earned Freshman All-America honors from Soccer America and was a second-team All-ACC choice in 2005 after posting 26 points on 10 goals and six assists. He had three goals and three assists as a sophomore and followed with two goals and four helpers this past season.

In Colorado, Campbell will join former Carolina teammate Justin Hughes.
