Carolina Wrestling Inks Five More Grapplers For 2003-04

CHAPEL HILL - Wrestling head coach C.D. Mock announced five more signees for the 2003-04 wrestling team this morning. Nick Coleman (Hershey, Pa.), Jared Hogan (Belmont, N.C.), Steve Spicuzza (Clearwater, Fla.), Matt Starkey (Charlotte, N.C.) and Eric Zakrzewski (Reston, Va.) will join Ben Connell (Lugoff, S.C.) and Drew Forshey (Hickory, N.C.) in coach Mock's first recruiting class as head coach of the Tar Heels. "I'm excited about the good mix of competitors we have coming in this year," said head coach C.D. Mock. "We have brought in some very talented young men and I think they will make a significant contribution to an already young and talented team coming back." Coleman comes to Carolina from Orange High School where he earned four letters in wrestling at 174 pounds. Hogan is a two-time North Carolina state champion at 165 pounds. He earned four varsity letters at East Gaston High School. Spicuzza is a three-time Florida state champion at Countryside High School at 141 pounds. Starkey joins the Tar Heels from Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C. He earned four varsity letters in wrestling in high school. Zakrzewski is a two-time Virginia state champion at Herndon High School in Reston, Va., where he earned four varsity letters as a grappler. Connell is a transfer from Oklahoma and will compete at the heavyweight
division. Forshey is a four-time North Carolina state champion at 125
pounds.
