Tar Heels Headed For White House

June 22, 2008

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The North Carolina field hockey team, winner of the 2007 NCAA Championship, will celebrate its title again this week, not far from the spot of its victory last November. On Tuesday, the squad will visit the White House along with 19 other NCAA Champions from the 2007-08 school year.

Following a tour of the White House, the team will pose for a photo with President George Bush, who will then speak to all of the teams at a ceremony on the South Lawn.

The Tar Heels claimed the program's fifth national title on Nov. 18 with a 3-0 win over Penn State in College Park, Md. UNC finished the season 24-0, with the program's 16th Atlantic Coast Conference title to go with the national crown.
