North Carolina freshman forward Lindsay Tarpley was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week for women's soccer and the Carolina Waterscapes Player of the Week after leading the Tar Heels to a 2-0 record this past weekend over two Top 10 ranked teams.

Tarpley guided the Tar Heels over #8 Texas A&M, 4-1, and #3 Texas, 3-2, in the Houston College Challenge. Against Texas A&M, Tarpley scored one goal and added one assist for a total of three points in the game. She had the assist on the game-winning goal against the Aggies.

In the second game of the Challenge, the Kalamazoo, Michigan native had the game-winning goal against #3 Texas.

Other nominees for the Carolina Waterscapes Player of the Week include:
Dustin Bray, who won a pair of men's golf tournaments last week. The Asheboro, N.C., native fired rounds of 72-68-68 for an eight-under 208 total to capture medalist honors at the International Collegiate played at the St. Andrews Bay Resort Torrence Course in St. Andrews, Scotland. He followed that up with a tie for medalist honors at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn.

Tailback Jacque Lewis rushed for 84 yards and had one reception for 16 yards in Carolina's 52-21 loss to third-ranked Texas.

Brian McGovern, a sophomore from Newtown, Conn., was the top collegiate finisher at the UNC Cross Country Challenge Saturday. He finished the 8K race with a time of 25:32 and ended the race in second place. The only competitor to top McGovern1s time was former Carolina standout Andre Williams (racing unattached) with a time of 25:28.
